Job summary

Maricopa County in Arizona is seeking a Furniture Foreman to lead daily operations for installations, relocations, reconfigurations, and repairs of office furniture systems. You will supervise team activity, ensure on-time delivery, and maintain high standards of client service and professionalism.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong inventory control, experience with systems furniture, and a valid Arizona driver’s license.

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

About the Position

We are searching for an experienced Furniture Foreman to join our Design and Construction Division.

The ideal team member will create an outstanding experience for our customers by completing their furniture projects on time, courteously, and professionally.

The position is responsible for leading the daily activities related to new installations, relocations, reconfigurations, repairs, inventory, and assessments of furniture systems, fixtures, and equipment.

We Require
  • Three years of installation, material handling, and inventory control experience with systems furniture in various commercial and/or government/institutional environments
  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
  • Must possess or can obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Must complete a Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) background investigation to access County detention facilities.
  • We Also Value Current Herman Miller factory‑trained installer certification
  • Forklift Operator Certification or ability to obtain certification
  • Two years of experience leading a team
  • Five years of installation, material handling, and inventory control experience with systems furniture in various commercial and/or government/institutional environments
  • Two years of experience involving a variety of warehouse duties or handling of freestanding case goods
Job Contributions
  • Establish and monitor processes for the issue of systems furniture to departments and other applicable County agencies, following County and departmental policies
  • Train and assign work to support staff
  • Provide customer service and excellent communication regarding install/delivery schedule, delays, and unforeseen conditions, and provide updates on project completion timelines
  • Respond to requests for service either directly or using the FMD work order system
  • Ensure all applicable safety requirements are established and met for the operation
  • Assemble and disassemble modular office systems furniture, including modifications/renovations, to all furniture and equipment moves/repairs, cleaning products after install, and before returning to storage/inventory
  • Operate various manual/power tools and warehouse material handling equipment, including electric and manual pallet jacks
  • Operate a computerized inventory system using software and other methods
  • Assess furniture under warranty and items suitable to be returned to FMD inventory
  • Use County vehicles, including driving a 24’ box truck with a lift gate to travel to vendor locations, other agencies, and throughout the County to pick up and deliver FF&E

Working Conditions

The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties & responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation Exerting over 100 lbs. occasionally, 50-100 lbs. frequently, or up to 20-50 lbs. constantly Must be capable of using various forms of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required to fulfill the requirements of the position Must be proficient with and capable of using basic hand tools, benders, cordless power tools, electrical testing equipment, including multimeter, clamp meter, megohmmeter, circuit tracer, etc. Must be capable of working with aerial lifts upon completion of county-provided training
