Job summary

By The Yard Inc is seeking a craftsperson to join our Jordan, MN building team. Under the Production Supervisor, you will build and assemble furniture parts from recycled plastic lumber, and box finished pieces for the next stage of production.

Willingness to learn and handle basic tools like a drill and screw gun is important. Regular hours are 10am–6pm, Monday–Friday, with pay between $20.00 and $25.00 per hour based on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience using basic hand tools preferred.
• Ability to perform basic measurements and calculations.

Responsibilities

• Produce and assemble furniture, cabinets, and parts for final assembly.
• Box furniture as needed and stock shelves.
• Complete paperwork and verify order accuracy.
• Coordinate parts transfer to next department for workflow.

By the Yard is looking for experienced or inexperienced craftsperson to join our building team!

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, build and/or assemble furniture parts made of recycled plastic lumber; box furniture as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Produce and assemble/build furniture, cabinets, and parts for sub and/or final assembly to the highest quality with minimal rework. Box furniture as required.
• Stock shelves as needed.
• Complete paperwork and verify the order is correct.
• Send completed parts to the next department in a manner that carts are easily worked.
• Remain compliant with housekeeping standards and all safety and work rules and regulations.
• Recommend new and better processes, and methods to Supervisor.
• May operate forklift if certified.
• Work with other departments on various assignments, as necessary.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience using tools such as a drill and screw gun.
• Perform basic mathematical and measurement calculations.
• Understand and follow written, verbal, and demonstrated directions.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Must have the ability to work closely and efficiently with fellow co-workers.
• Regular attendance according to the positions' management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

Experienced candidates will have at least two years of relevant manufacturing experience, preferably in wood-working or cabinetry. Pay range is intentionally wide to accommodate candidates with varying levels of relevant woodworking, cabinetry, or building experience.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to regularly stand, and frequently walk, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands, fingers, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, carrying and moving parts, materials, and product. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to use a step stool.
