Job summary

By The Yard Inc., located in Jordan, MN, seeks a machine operator to join our wood fabrication team. You will operate machines and tools to complete orders safely and accurately, reporting to the Production Supervisor.

The shift runs Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with compensation ranging from $20.00 to $25.00 per hour depending on experience. We value a high school diploma or equivalent, 18+ years of age, good math and measurement skills, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years or older due to machines/equipment.
• Experience with drills and a screw gun.
• Experience operating saws, drill press and CNC machines preferred.
• Basic math and measurement calculations.
• Ability to read and follow directions.
• Strong attention to detail.

• Regular attendance per schedule.

Responsibilities

• Machine materials to meet part specifications per work instructions.
• Verify part quality and quantities and complete required paperwork.
• Set up and operate saws, drill press, CNC machines, hand tools.
• May operate forklift if certified.
• Follow part specifications to produce machined parts.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety standards.
• Suggest process improvements where appropriate.
• May perform some assembly.
• Identify and resolve problems efficiently.

Under the direction of Production Supervisor, operate machines, tools, and equipment in the Mill Room to complete orders to the highest quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Machine material to meet part specifications utilizing work instructions and/or patterns.
• Ensures accurate completion of paperwork; verify part quality and quantities.
• Setup and operate a variety of saws, drill press, CNC machines, hand drills, and other hand tools.
• May operate forklift if certified.
• Follow part specifications to produce machined parts.
• Remain compliant with housekeeping standards and all safety and work rules and regulations.
• Recommends new and better processes and methods where possible to manager.
• May perform some assembly.
• Identify and resolve problems in an efficient manner.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Due to machines/equipment used, must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience using tools such as a drill and screw gun.
• Experience operating a variety of saws, drill press, CNC machines preferred but not required.
• Perform basic mathematical and measurement calculations.
• Understand and follow written, verbal, and demonstrated directions.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Must have the ability to work closely and efficiently with fellow co-workers.
• Regular attendance according to the positions' management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

Experienced candidates will have at least two years of relevant manufacturing experience, preferably in wood-working or cabinetry. Pay range is intentionally wide to accommodate candidates with varying levels of relevant woodworking, cabinetry, or machine experience.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to regularly stand, and frequently walk, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands, fingers, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, carrying and moving parts, materials, and product. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to use a step stool.
