By The Yard Inc in Jordan, MN is seeking a part-time Mill Room operator. You will operate saws, CNC machines, drill presses, and hand tools to complete orders with high quality. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to safety and paperwork standards.

Experience in woodworking or cabinetry is preferred; HS diploma and ability to lift up to 50 pounds are needed. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 3pm–6pm with competitive hourly pay of $20.00–$25.00, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant manufacturing experience preferred, especially in wood-working or cabinetry.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience using a drill and screw gun helpful.

Responsibilities

• Operate machines, tools, and equipment in the Mill Room to produce orders.
• Set up and run saws, drill press, CNC machines, and hand tools.
• Ensure paperwork accuracy and verify part quality and quantities.
• Follow part specifications and work instructions for machined parts.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety standards and follow regulations.
• May perform some assembly and assist with process improvements.

Schedule: Monday - Friday (3pm - 6pm)

Compensation: $20.00 - $25.00/hour, depending on previous relevant experience

Under the direction of Production Supervisor, operate machines, tools, and equipment in the Mill Room to complete orders to the highest quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Machine material to meet part specifications utilizing work instructions and/or patterns.
• Ensures accurate completion of paperwork; verify part quality and quantities.
• Setup and operate a variety of saws, drill press, CNC machines, hand drills, and other hand tools.
• May operate forklift if certified.
• Follow part specifications to produce machined parts.
• Remain compliant with housekeeping standards and all safety and work rules and regulations.
• Recommends new and better processes and methods where possible to manager.
• May perform some assembly.
• Identify and resolve problems in an efficient manner.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Due to machines/equipment used, must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience using tools such as a drill and screw gun.
• Experience operating a variety of saws, drill press, CNC machines preferred but not required.
• Perform basic mathematical and measurement calculations.
• Understand and follow written, verbal, and demonstrated directions.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Must have the ability to work closely and efficiently with fellow co-workers.
• Regular attendance according to the positions' management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

Experienced candidates will have at least two years of relevant manufacturing experience, preferably in wood-working or cabinetry. Pay range is intentionally wide to accommodate candidates with varying levels of relevant woodworking, cabinetry, or machine experience.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to regularly stand, and frequently walk, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands, fingers, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, carrying and moving parts, materials, and product. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to use step stool.
