Job summary

Bodycote plc in Ipswich, MA is seeking a Heat Treater to perform essential heat treatment duties under the direction of the Production Manager, ensuring customer specifications are met.

This full-time, safety-sensitive role operates 3pm-11pm, Monday to Friday, with a $1,500 sign-on retention bonus. Candidates must pass pre-employment screening and be eligible for overtime; forklift cert may be required.

Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic physical; have the ability to work full-time, 40+ hours per week. The hours for this position are 3pm - 11pm, Monday through Friday.

Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive.

Position Summary:

Based in Ipswich, MA, the Heat Treater will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Production Manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assists with operations, control, and monitoring of heat treating and related equipment as required and as written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

• Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.

• Bring any unusual problem or irregularity to the attention of the supervisor.

• Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.

• Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.

• This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customers’ inventory and, as such, will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.

• Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.

• This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.

• Education – High school diploma or equivalent.

• Must have working knowledge of metallurgy, temperatures, etc.

• May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.

• Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.

Physical & Mental Demands:

• Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment.

• Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

• Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.

Pay & Benefits Information

The hourly pay range for this position is$20-$30 per hour. Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law.

This role is eligible for additional compensation, including shift differential.
