Job summary

Bodycote plc in Fountain Inn, SC is seeking a Furnace Operator to perform essential heat treatment operations under the direction of the Production Manager. You will meet customer specifications and assist other team members as needed in a heavy industrial environment.

The role offers growth from Level C entry to Level A senior based on experience, with a Monday–Friday 3pm–11:30pm shift and a strong emphasis on safety and quality. Bodycote reserves rights for change.

Qualifications

• This position requires ITAR compliance; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Overtime or any shift may be required, including weekends.
• Forklift operation certification required.
• Must demonstrate ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
• Brings unusual problems to supervisor’s attention.
• Practices safety and good housekeeping.

Summary:

Based in Fountain Inn, SC the Furnace Operator will perform essential job functions associate with heat treatment under the direction of the Production Mgr to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.

We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Heat Treating Technician. Depending on your skills and experience, this role may be filled at one of the following levels:

Level C: Entry Level: 0 to 24 months of heat treating experience. You will be expected to learn and grow in your role, with guidance from senior team members.

• Assists with operations, control, and monitoring of heat treating and related equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Level B: Mid-Level: 2 to 3 years of experience in heat treating. You should have a proven track record in heat treating, along with the ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.

• Operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Level A: Senior-Level: 3 to 5 years of experience and a deep understanding of heat treating. You will lead initiatives, mentor junior team members, and make strategic contributions to the department.

• Independently operates, controls, and monitors heat treating equipment as required and written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

• Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.

• Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.

• Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.

• Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.

• This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and, as such, will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.

• Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.

• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
