Job summary

Service Corporation International in Bakersfield, CA seeks a Funeral Services Assistant to provide clerical and front-desk support, greet families, answer questions, and assist on services under supervision.

In this role you will prepare for services, handle remains with care, operate office equipment, drive funeral home vehicles as needed, and help with transportation and setup while upholding compassionate, professional standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous customer service and/or sales experience preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office suite and databases preferred; ability and willingness to learn required.
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist client families entering the office.
• Answer phones courteously and use office equipment (fax, e-mail, computers).
• Assist on funeral, memorial and other services as requested by management.
• Prepare for services and maintain items such as floral arrangements, caskets and keepsakes.
• Drive funeral home vehicles for services and family pickups as needed.
• Provide transportation support and help with setup and refreshments where allowed by law.

Other general duties include meeting the general public, answering questions and providing information on funeral and cremation information and other related topics, answering phones courteously and in a polite manner, assisting on funeral, memorial and other services or ceremonies as requested by funeral home clients and management.
