George Washington's Mount Vernon is offering a Development Intern position (Part-Time, Temporary Sep–Dec) to support the Development team with the annual fundraising auction. The intern will assist with item procurement, donor outreach, event planning, and auction administration while gaining hands-on nonprofit fundraising experience.

The role is hybrid, with the intern able to choose on-site days, and compensation is $16 per hour for about 20 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled at or a recent graduate pursuing a related degree.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to learn in a fast-paced team environment.
• Hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and executing the annual fundraising auction from procurement through event completion.
• Research and identify potential auction donors and sponsors.
• Assist with donor outreach and communications.
• Track donations, donor info, item details, and fulfillment.
• Photograph auction items for listings and promotions.
• Write engaging descriptions and captions for auction items.
• Organize and label physical auction items, certificates, and images.
• Create and update auction listings in the platform or CRM.
• Assemble auction packages and themed experiences.
• Coordinate bid sheets, signage, and item displays.
• Support catalog preparation with proofreading and formatting.
• Assist with event logistics, setup, and post-event tasks.
• Provide general administrative support to the Development team.
