Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of fundraising experience and/or related field experience.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to work with LPPI team, academic leaders, and development staff.
  • Experience working with a dean or senior faculty or equivalent leadership at a similar organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and multi-phase projects from inception to completion under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication about UCLA’s fundraising goals and priorities for LPPI.
  • Excellent written communication for business correspondence, solicitation materials, proposals, and reports.
  • Impeccable integrity and discretion with donors and confidential information.
  • Ability to travel and work some weekends/evenings as needed.
  • Cover letter and resume submission is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support LPPI's fundraising and development activities by implementing components of the development plan.

Department Summary

The UCLA Latino Policy & Politics Institute (LPPI) seeks a dynamic professional to serve as our Development Coordinator. LPPI champions nonpartisan, evidence-based domestic policy solutions that improve the economic, political, and social landscape for Latinos and other communities of color in states and localities across the U.S. LPPI leverages UCLA’s cross-disciplinary strengths to create an enterprise-wide home for Latino social policy with expertise in over a dozen issue areas, including economic mobility, representation, health, environment, and Latino data infrastructure. LPPI fosters innovative research, leverages policy-relevant expertise, drives civic engagement, and nurtures a leadership pipeline to propel viable policy reforms that expand opportunity for all Americas.


Position Summary

Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the Development Coordinator supports LPPI's fundraising and development activities by implementing components of the institute's development plan, coordinating grant and donor engagement activities, conducting prospect research, supporting proposal development, maintaining development data and reporting, and assisting with donor cultivation and stewardship. The incumbent collaborates with LPPI leadership, staff, and the UCLA Luskin School development team to support fundraising initiatives that advance LPPI's mission and long-term sustainability.

Salary & Compensation

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications


  • Minimum of three years of fundraising experience and/or prior professional experience in a related field strongly preferred. (Required)

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to work harmoniously with the LPPI team, academic leaders, faculty, and other development staff toward the accomplishment of fundraising goals. (Required)

  • Demonstrated skill and/or ability to work with a dean and/or senior faculty or equivalent leadership of a similar level and type at a comparable organization. (Required)

  • Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple tasks and multi-phase projects simultaneously from inception to completion, and complete work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision. (Required)

  • Ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing, about UCLA’s fundraising goals and the specific priorities for Latino Policy and Politics Institute; equal ability to listen perceptively and convey sensitivity and awareness. (Required)

  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce business correspondence, solicitation materials, appropriate letters of acknowledgment, proposals to individuals, corporations, and foundations, and reports. (Required)

  • Impeccable integrity and discretion with donors, alumni, students, administrators, and colleagues, as well as confidential information. (Required)

  • Ability to travel and work some weekends and/or evenings as needed. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development, or equivalent combination of experience and education. (Required)
