Akuna Capital in Chicago seeks a Fundamental Equity Analyst to own research into earnings, catalysts, and news. This role drives live positioning with clear calls and risk management. 3–4 years in equity research and proficiency in Python and AI tools are highly valued.

You will develop differentiated views, build models, and pitch ideas directly to the desk, contributing to a fast-paced, data-driven trading environment.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of equity research experience; buy-side preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or CS.
• Valuation and financial modeling skills with strong Excel.
• Python or programming skills; ability to incorporate AI tools.
• Strong written and oral communication; entrepreneurial self-starter.

Responsibilities

• Conduct deep fundamental research on companies to develop differentiated trades.
• Own the desk's information edge by tracking earnings, guidance, actions and news.
• Analyze event plays with focus on timing, positioning, and market impact.
• Pitch long/short, volatility, and event-driven ideas to the desk and defend them.
• Build models, sheets, and tooling powering research using AI and data stack.
• Build relationships with sell-side analysts and industry contacts.
• Learn to express fundamental views in options space with traders.
