Job summary

Voy Ventures is seeking a VP-level Portfolio Controller in Denver to lead accounting, fund administration, and portfolio reporting for institutional accounts and joint ventures.

You will drive NAV/GAV reviews, oversee a major property accounting system transition, and partner with portfolio management and external providers to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive real estate investment accounting or private equity real estate experience.
• Hands-on accounting experience inside a real estate investment company or fund.
• Experience with institutional separate accounts and/or programmatic joint ventures.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, NAV methodologies, and waterfall/promote calculations.
• Based in Denver, CO or Los Angeles, CA; hybrid schedule with in-office 3 days/week and remote flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting and reporting team for institutional portfolios.
• Own fund administration: capital calls, distributions, and quarterly cycles.
• Drive quarterly portfolio accounting and consolidate data for client reporting.

Job description

A leading SEC-registered institutional real estate investment advisory firm, serving pension funds and other institutional investors, is hiring a Portfolio Controller (VP level) based in Denver, CO. This newly created role will lead accounting, fund administration, and portfolio reporting across the firm's institutional separate accounts and joint ventures, serving as the primary finance partner to the Portfolio Management team — including taking the lead on a live property accounting systems implementation (RealPage).

What You'll Do

• Lead the Team: Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing accounting and reporting team supporting institutional portfolios.
• Own Fund Administration: Coordinate capital calls, distributions, waterfall reviews, and quarterly reporting cycles across multiple investment managers.
• Drive Financial Reporting: Lead quarterly portfolio accounting and consolidate property- and manager-level data into client-ready reporting packages.
• Review Performance & Valuation: Oversee NAV, GAV, and performance metrics, resolving valuation discrepancies across managers and accounting providers.
• Lead a Systems Implementation: Take the reins on a live transition to a new property accounting platform, including chart-of-accounts design in partnership with an outside implementation consultant.
• Manage External Relationships: Serve as the primary accounting contact for investment managers, institutional clients, and third-party providers.
• Improve Systems & Process: Standardize chart-of-accounts mapping and drive data governance, documentation, and automation across the platform.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
• 10+ years of progressive real estate investment accounting, fund administration, or private equity real estate experience
• Direct, hands-on accounting experience gained while working inside a real estate investment company or fund
• Experience with institutional separate accounts and/or programmatic joint ventures
• Advanced Excel skills; RealPage, Yardi, MRI, Pereview, or comparable platform experience a strong plus
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, NAV methodologies, and waterfall/promote calculations
• Based in (or willing to relocate to) Denver, CO or Los Angeles, CA; hybrid schedule (in-office 3 days/week) with 4 weeks of full remote flexibility
