Job summary

ProPivotal in Boston seeks a Fund Controller to lead fund accounting and reporting for a high net worth real estate portfolio. This hands-on role partners with senior leadership and mentors a small accounting team in a hybrid office setting.

You will oversee monthly and quarterly closes, investor reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audits, while driving process improvements and coordinating with portfolio management, acquisitions, and tax partners. CPA is required.

Qualifications

• Significant hands on accounting leadership in asset management, real estate, private equity or fund environments.
• Experience preparing investor reporting packages, budgets, forecasts, and audit support.
• Experience partnering cross functionally with investment, asset management, and acquisitions teams.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort with accounting systems and reporting tools.
• Ability to lead deadlines, set priorities, and deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and oversee monthly and quarterly accounting, financial reporting, and performance reporting for investors.
• Prepare and review capital calls, distributions, quarterly investor statements, and ad hoc requests.
• Own budgeting and forecasting cycles with variance analysis and insights for stakeholders.
• Coordinate annual audit and tax reporting and liaise with auditors and tax partners.
• Support acquisition/disposition activity, due diligence, and closing statement review.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships across Finance, Portfolio Management, Asset Management, and Acquisitions.
• Manage core cash and treasury activities with controls; oversee wires.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members and drive process improvements.

One of the world's leading real estate investment advisors is hiring a Fund Controller to lead fund accounting and reporting for a high net worth real estate portfolio. This is a high visibility role partnering closely with senior leadership while managing and developing a small fund accounting team.

Key Details

• Work arrangementHybrid, typically 3 to 4 days in office per week based in Boston, MA
• Compensation Range between $150,000 - 175,000 base plus 30-40% bonus target

Credentials Needed

• CPA
• Master's degree a plus
• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Required Qualifications

• Significant hands on experience in accounting leadership, ideally within asset management, real estate, private equity, or fund environments
• Proven experience preparing and reviewing investor facing reporting packages, budgets, forecasts, and audit support
• Experience partnering cross functionally with investment, asset management, and acquisitions teams
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting systems and reporting tools
• Ability to lead deadlines, set priorities, and drive high quality deliverables in a fast paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Real estate focused fund accounting exposure (fund level reporting, capital activity, investor statements)
• Familiarity with Yardi and similar platforms used in real estate finance environments
• Prior experience supervising or mentoring accountants and elevating team performance through coaching and process improvement
