Job summary

Mission Staffing seeks a Controller for a well-established private real estate investment firm in New York. You will own fund accounting, financial reporting, and the quarterly/annual close, collaborating closely with senior leadership and investment professionals to support growth objectives.

The role requires 8+ years in accounting/finance with real estate investment experience; CPA preferred; strong Excel and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• Background in real estate investment management, private equity, or alternative investments preferred.
• Strong fund accounting, financial reporting, consolidation, and partnership accounting experience.
• Experience with investor reporting, capital accounts, and waterfalls.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with complex financial models.
• CPA preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee fund accounting, financial reporting, and quarterly/annual close processes.
• Manage financial statements, consolidations, and supporting schedules.
• Oversee accounting for funds, joint ventures, and investment entities.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, fund administrators, and other external providers.
• Oversee investor reporting, capital activity, allocations, and distributions.
• Review partnership accounting and waterfall calculations.
• Partner with the investment and leadership teams on transactions and financial matters.
• Maintain strong accounting policies, controls, and reporting processes.
• Lead and develop a team of accounting and finance professionals.
