A global alternative investment firm is seeking a manager with experience in commodities to lead its fund accounting team. This role sits at the intersection of investment activity, reporting accuracy, and operational control, supporting a complex trading environment.
You will be a key owner of commodities-related accounting outcomes, partnering closely with trading, risk, and operations teams to ensure precision, transparency, and scalability as portfolios evolve.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead accounting and valuation for a range of commodities, including exchange-traded and OTC instruments.
- Ensure fund accounting including accurate close processes and NAV outputs.
- Manage reconciliations, life cycle events, and pricing inputs for trades, resolving breaks and ensuring clean books.
- Translate market movement into clear financial outcomes, supporting internal stakeholders with thoughtful analysis.
- Identify inefficiencies, implement smarter workflows, and support automation and growth across commodities accounting.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or similar. CPA or CFA highly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in fund accounting. Must have experience with commodities markets.
- Previous experience in a hedge fund, asset management firm, or commodities trading environment required.
- Deep experience with fund accounting systems (ex. Geneva) and Excel.
- Strong understanding of commodities instruments and valuation considerations.
- Experience operating within regulated investment environments.
