Atlas Search in New York, NY is seeking an Assistant Controller for a leading private equity real estate fund. This role offers ownership across the fund lifecycle beyond traditional close duties, with exposure to fund accounting, operations, and investor reporting.
You will oversee third-party administration, manage capital calls and distributions, review waterfall calculations under US GAAP and IFRS, and partner with investment, finance, tax, and operations teams while mentoring junior staff.
What if your next fund accounting role gave you ownership of the fund - not just responsibility for the close?
I’m working on an Assistant Controller opportunity with a leading global alternative investment platform in New York. This is a strong fit for a fund accounting Senior or Manager who enjoys the technical side of accounting but wants to broaden their experience across the full lifecycle of a private equity real estate fund.
The biggest differentiator: this is not a role where you’ll spend your career buried in NAVs and financial statements.
You’ll have exposure across fund accounting, operations, liquidity, investor reporting, treasury, credit facilities, waterfalls, capital activity, forecasting, and oversight of the third-party administrator.
Someone with roughly 4-7 years of accounting experience who has built a strong foundation in fund accounting and is ready for more ownership.
Private equity real estate fund experience is highly preferred, and a mix of public accounting and industry experience can translate particularly well. CPA and Investran experience are both pluses.
This is especially compelling for someone thinking:
"I’m ready to own more than just the accounting."
"I want broader exposure without completely leaving my fund accounting background behind."
"I want my next role to give me a clearer path toward senior leadership."
If you’ve reached the point where you want your next move to expand your career rather than simply give you the same responsibilities at a different firm, this is worth a conversation.
