Job summary

Russell Tobin is seeking a Fund Accounting Manager to join its Private Equity & Hedge Fund Accounting Teams. The role focuses on delivering exceptional accounting and administration services to hedge and private equity fund clients and resolving complex accounting issues.

The candidate will manage fund accounting operations, oversee month-end valuations, and coordinate with investment managers and service teams to ensure accurate reporting and compliant processes.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the fund services industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.

  • Coordinate onboarding of new fund setups and liaison between clients and internal teams.
  • Coordinate and support year-end audit engagements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Perform due diligence to ensure client compliance with government laws and regulations.
  • Adhere to Anti-Money Laundering policies when reviewing fund transactions.
  • Review and approve month-end valuations prior to distribution to clients for accuracy.

Job description

The client is seeking a Fund Accounting Manager to join its Private Equity & Hedge Fund Accounting Teams. The primary goal is to provide exceptional customer service, accounting, and administration services to hedge and private equity fund customers. The Fund Accounting Manager will be responsible for accounting operations and the resolution of accounting issues for clients.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the main contact for clients and demonstrate expertise in offshore and domestic fund accounting and administration for alternative funds.
  • Manage the delegation of funds to the team, coordinate and onboard new fund setups, and serve as a liaison between clients and internal teams.
  • Coordinate and support various year-end audit engagements in accordance with GAAP accounting standards.
  • Perform due diligence to ensure clients are in compliance with government laws and regulations.
  • Adhere to Anti-Money Laundering policies and procedures when reviewing fund transactions.
  • Ensure the team complies with departmental rules and regulations designed to prevent the practice of generating income through illegal actions.
  • Generate and reconcile accounting reports, including month-end valuation reports.
  • Review and approve month-end valuations prior to distribution to clients, with a goal of 100% accuracy.
  • Authorise wire payments from fund escrow accounts.
  • Correspond with investment managers regarding day-to-day inquiries, including fund transactions, administration servicing, planning, reporting, and financial statements.
  • Work with investment managers, transfer agents, and sales and service teams to resolve open issues and questions.
  • Coordinate with internal technology support and vendor support when necessary to resolve production issues or system support queries.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, monthly one-on-ones with supervisors and analysts, and provide career pathing and training.
  • Ensure staffing requirements are met by assessing resource requirements, interviewing candidates, and hiring employees.
  • Provide and champion a team environment that includes individual development, promotions, and disciplinary action.
  • Support new business development and relationship teams for prospect calls, client visits, and presentations.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new and converted clients by gathering client requirements, submitting custom requests, and communicating key deliverables to team members.
  • Participate in various corporate professional development sessions to identify processes across the division and organization.
Qualifications
