Responsibilities

• Analyze autonomous vehicle functions to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and system-level risks.
• Support risk assessment and hazard analysis using STPA, FMEA, and FTA.
• Assist in defining safety objectives and translating them into clear, testable technical requirements.
• Work with system, hardware, and software engineers to incorporate safety requirements into product architecture and implementation.
• Track safety requirements throughout development and help ensure proper verification and validation.
• Participate in reviews of safety-related tests, simulations, and engineering evidence.
• Apply functional safety principles and safety processes across development stages.
• Support projects in meeting IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 25119 guidelines.
• Develop safety-related documentation: safety plans, assessments, cases, and reports.
• Assist with internal safety reviews and compliance activities.
• Provide day-to-day functional safety guidance to teams and stakeholders.
• Stay updated on autonomous robotics, vehicle safety and functional safety practices.

The engineer will be involved in analyzing system behavior, identifying potential safety risks, establishing safety requirements, and supporting safety activities from concept development through product testing. This role requires close collaboration with systems, software, hardware, and verification teams to ensure safety considerations are built into the product rather than addressed only during final testing.

What You’ll Do

• Analyze autonomous vehicle functions to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and system-level risks.
• Support risk assessment and hazard analysis using techniques such as STPA, FMEA, and FTA.
• Assist in defining safety objectives and translating them into clear, testable technical requirements.
• Work with system, hardware, and software engineers to incorporate safety requirements into product architecture and implementation.
• Track safety requirements throughout development and help ensure proper verification and validation.
• Participate in reviews of safety-related tests, simulations, and engineering evidence.
• Apply functional safety principles and established safety processes across different stages of product development.
• Support projects in meeting applicable safety standards and guidelines, including IEC 61508, ISO 13849, and ISO 25119.
• Develop and organize safety-related engineering documentation, including safety plans, assessments, cases, and reports.

• Keep up with emerging practices in autonomous robotics, vehicle safety, and functional safety engineering.
