Job summary

The LawAI Summer Research Fellowship 2026 invites graduate law students, PhDs, and AI policy professionals to work remotely with an in-person week in Berkeley or Washington, D.C.

Over 10 weeks, fellows receive a weekly stipend of $1,500, mentorship from experienced policymakers and researchers, and access to a Summer Institute on Law and AI. The program aims to advance AI governance through rigorous legal analysis and public policy impact.

Qualifications

• Open to graduate law students, PhDs, professionals transitioning to AI law roles.
• No AI-specific research experience required.
• Must be able to work remotely full-time from June 15 to August 21, 2026.
• Ideal for PhD candidates, postdocs, graduate law students, and professionals moving into AI policy roles.

Responsibilities

• Work on tailored AI law and policy projects.
• Receive weekly mentorship and guidance from mentors.
• Participate in in-person week in Berkeley or Washington, D.C. during June 22-26, 2026.
• Present research outputs such as reports or law review articles.
