Job summary

GEICO is seeking a skilled software engineer to scope, design, and build scalable distributed systems across the full software lifecycle. You will work with TypeScript, Java, C#, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure to drive architecture and observability.

Qualifications

2+ years programming experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React or Svelte
2+ years programming experience with at least one backend language such as Java, C++, or C#
Experience contributing to architecture and design of new and current systems
In-depth knowledge of computer science data structures and algorithms
Understanding of Azure DevOps and operational portals
Understanding of HTML5, JavaScript/TypeScript, XML, and JSON
Understanding of microservices-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
Understanding of monitoring tools
Intermediate PowerShell scripting skills
Intermediate networking concepts, including load balancers, reverse proxies, firewalls, DNS, and Kubernetes networking
Understanding of PaaS and IaaS services
Understanding of Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, and OAuth
Experience with datacenter structure and Azure native services
Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development lifecycle
Understanding of DevOps concepts, cloud architecture, and Azure DevOps operational framework
Analysis, estimation, and problem-solving skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
2+ years of non-internship professional full-stack software development experience
2+ years of experience with architecture and design
2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
2+ years of experience with open-source frameworks
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
