Position Summary

GEICO is seeking an experienced engineer focused on building high‑performance, low‑maintenance, zero‑downtime platforms and applications. The role supports the transformation from a traditional IT model to a tech‑centric organization, fostering psychological safety and continuous improvement.

Position Description

The Senior Engineer will be a key member of the engineering staff, working across the organization to provide a friction‑less customer experience and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability in a hyper‑growth environment where priorities shift quickly.

Position Responsibilities
  • Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems
  • Build product definition and leverage technical skills to drive toward the right solution
  • Engage in cross‑functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle
  • Lead design sessions and code reviews to elevate engineering quality across the organization
  • Define, create, and support reusable application components and patterns from a business and technology perspective
  • Utilize programming languages and technologies such as Python, C#, other OOP languages, SQL, NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure services
  • Mentor other engineers
  • Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams
Qualifications
  • Advanced programming experience within the .NET framework: C#, Visual Studio, SQL Server, ASP.NET, MVC, Web API, REST
  • Proven understanding of microservices‑oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
  • Experience architecting and designing new and existing systems
  • Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts, Azure DevOps, and related tools
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills
  • Advanced monitoring concepts and tooling
  • Advanced understanding of security protocols and products
  • Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code
  • In‑depth knowledge of computer science data structures and algorithms
  • Strong problem‑solving ability
  • Ability to excel in a fast‑paced environment
  • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source control, building, deployment, operations, real‑time communication)
  • Architecture assessment and proposal experience
  • 4+ years professional software development experience within the .NET framework (C#)
  • 3+ years experience with architecture and design
  • 3+ years experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
  • 2+ years experience in open‑source frameworks
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
Benefits and Compensation

Annual Salary $105,000.00 – $215,000.00 (a general guideline based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, location, and market considerations).
