Job summary

Applitrack seeks a High School and Post Secondary Special Education Teaching Assistant and Community Transport for a full-time 35-hour week role. You will assist students with activities to meet IEP goals and support learning and behavior objectives across classrooms, buses, and community settings.

Responsibilities include implementing lessons, modifying materials, administering tests, managing materials and records, and assisting with daily living tasks. Travel between schools may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to communicate with students and staff.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations as needed to assist students.
• Ability to use Word, Excel and similar software; proficiency with district tech.
• Ability to work with a diverse group and protect confidentiality.
• Ability to build supportive relationships with students with special needs.
• Ability to cooperate with staff and maintain professional relations.
• Ability to stay calm and adapt to changing conditions.
• Ability to report work in writing or verbally to supervisors.
• Ability to follow instructions precisely and complete tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Implement instructional plans as determined by licensed teachers.
• Apply and modify lessons to meet learning objectives; keep students on task.
• Administer curriculum-based tests/quizzes.
• Ensure students have needed materials and records updated.
• Take notes of curriculum presented for student needs.
• Provide physical care as needed and support daily living skills.
• Observe and reinforce behavior; communicate progress to teachers.
• Participate in weekly team meetings and trainings.
• Assist with non-instructional activities and school safety.
• Escort students to buses/cars and retrieve them at start/end classes.
• Record progress toward IEP goals; transport students as required.
• Travel between schools as needed within the district.
