Job summary

Southwest Allen County Schools is seeking a classroom assistant to support students in both special education and general education settings. You will prepare instructional materials under teacher direction and participate in community-based activities to develop life and vocational skills.

The role involves assisting with personal needs as needed and implementing behavior intervention plans. A lift test may be required, and driving a special education van could be part of the duties.

• Ability to take direction and follow teacher guidance.
• Show initiative, dependability, and a genuine interest in education.

Responsibilities

• Support both direct and indirect learning activities.
• Prepare instructional materials as directed to implement IEPs.
• Attend community-based instructional activities to build life/vocational skills.
• Implement behavior plans (BIP) when needed.
• Assist with personal needs and transitions as required, including wheelchair/van support.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Special Education Office.
