Job summary

Memspa is seeking a Teacher for Cognitively Impaired (CI) or Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to join the Jackson County Intermediate School District. Plan and deliver daily instructional activities for students classified as CI and/or ASD, coordinating with staff to integrate services and academic goals.

Responsibilities include assessment, progress reporting and collaboration with families. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in special education and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to special education.
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with the required endorsement of cognitive impairment or autistic impairment.
• Must meet highly qualified guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and execute daily instructional activities for cognitively/ASD-impaired students.
• Coordinate with ancillary staff and parents to align program goals.
• Maintain records including IEPs, reports and attendance.
• Evaluate student progress through tests, work samples and observations.
• Develop curriculum and teaching methods for the cognitively/ASD-impaired program.
• Assist in screening, evaluating and recommending placements for students.
• Communicate with parents and staff about student progress and goals.
