Job summary

Universal Storage Group is seeking a Relief Manager for American Store & Lock. You will lead front-line sales, customer service, and daily store operations in a fast-paced self-storage environment.

You will manage paperwork, deposits, and security checks while supporting marketing activities and ensuring the facility remains clean and presentable. Valid driver’s license, background check, drug screening, and aptitude testing are required.

Qualifications

• Validated frontline customer service and sales skills tied to retail environments.
• Strong communication and teamwork to support daily store operations.
• Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy in paperwork and processes.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and handshake.
• Assist customers in selecting unit sizes and complete rental paperwork.
• Perform daily cash handling, deposits, and record keeping.
• Conduct facility walk-throughs, inspections, and security checks.
• Support marketing efforts and community engagement.
• Maintain showroom merchandise and clean store facilities.
• Handle U-Haul support and equipment returns as needed.

The chosen American Store & Lock Relief Manager will attend our four-phase training program with one of our USG Certified Trainers on sales, operations, auction process, and our use of world-class marketing techniques to deliver Solutions to our clients. Employees also receive ongoing training throughout the year and annually at our Company Meeting.

Self-Storage is a fast-paced environment. Our employees wear many hats: salesperson, customer service rep, cleaning crew, marketer, accounting clerk, cashier, and more! As a USG Relief Manager you will be responsible for:

• Greeting everyone at your facility with a smile and a handshake
• Helping your customers determine the best size unit before each rental
• Completing all paperwork correctly for each rental
• Completing scheduled facility Walk Thru and Lock checks
• Posting all payments made the day of receipt
• Tracking and following up on past due accounts
• Record keeping of all customer records; including but not limited to, payments and notes
• Making DAILY bank deposits and posting receipts as instructed
• Monthly Marketing such as Calls, Visits, Emails, Social Media Postings, and Events
• Maintaining merchandise for customer purchase
• Cleaning vacant units to rentable condition.
• Ensuring grounds, office, and bathrooms are clean and presentable at all times
• Preparing auction units according to procedure and lien laws as needed
• Assist customers with U-Haul; rentals, cleaning, returning equipment
