Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraeducator for Secondary level assignments in our schools. The role involves assisting and supporting students and teachers in various departments, helping with lessons, and supervising in multiple areas such as media center and study halls.

The position is full-time with 184 days and 6.5 hours per day, starting 8/31/26. Employees working six+ hours/day are eligible for insurance benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be physically working in the building.
• Good communication, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff.
• Ability to supervise students.
• Ability to take direction.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support students and teachers in specific departments.
• Under the direction of the teacher/administrator, assist students individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
• Assist in the following areas or departments: Audio/Visual Dept, Guidance Dept/Counseling Dept/Planning Center, Hall Supervision/Cafeteria Supervision, In-School Suspension Supervision, Copy Room/Mailroom, Media Center, Study Hall/Independent Study Supervision, Behavior Support Rooms, and Testing Support.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
