Job summary

Springfield Public Schools is seeking a full-time School Nurse (RN) at Samuel Bowles School in Springfield, MA. The nurse will provide direct and indirect nursing care to enhance student wellbeing, manage health records, coordinate with families and health services, and deliver emergency and preventive care.

Qualifications include a valid MA RN license, 1–2 years in child or school health, CPR certification, and DOE certification eligibility with a BSN.

Qualifications

• Must have a current valid MA RN license.
• Minimum of 1–2 years in child health, community health, or related field.
• Three years of school nursing experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• DOE certification eligibility with BSN minimum.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate students’ health and home factors; counsel students, parents, and school personnel about health problems.
• Maintain health records and evaluate school health programs.
• Coordinate health resources with home, community and health agencies.
• Develop individual health care plans and coordinate with providers and school staff.
• Provide emergency care for students and staff on school premises.
• Administer prescribed medications with parent/guardian and physician consent.
• Perform mandated screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, height/weight).
• Document information in student records per HIPAA/FERPA.
