Job summary

Hope in Edwardsville, IL seeks a dedicated Head Cook to manage meals for students and staff across Glen Carbon and Edwardsville campuses. You will follow menus, ensure safety standards, and supervise prep and service. Experience in food prep, knowledge of sanitation, and ability to operate a busy kitchen are essential.

The position is full-time, offers daytime shifts, and requires physical stamina, strict hygiene, and reliable teamwork to keep the kitchen running smoothly for both campuses.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old
• 2 years experience as a cook, prep cook or dietary aide
• Knowledge of food preparation
• Possess a sanitation certification
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment including convection oven, gas range, steamer, mixer, tilt-skillet, slicer, microwave and dishwasher.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and perform physical duties
• Background clearance, physical and drug/alcohol screening

Responsibilities

• Prepare all meals according to menus and recipes for both campuses
• Maintain attractive, well-presented menu items on time
• Keep kitchen equipment maintained and compliant with codes
• Check food requests and utilize leftovers when possible
• Complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
• Wear safety belt during shifts; maintain hair restraints and proper attire
• Label and assemble items for diets and substitutions as prescribed
• Maintain accurate records and shift break logs
• Prepare for next day production and notify in-charge of needs
• Complete required trainings and rotate inventory properly
