Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Specialist to prepare and portion meals for IDEA students, following recipes and kitchen processes. Responsibilities include monitoring students, maintaining sanitation, and assisting with dishwashing and cleaning tasks.

The role supports the school’s calendar and student welfare. Candidate should have the ability to lift, bend, and operate kitchen equipment, with prior food service experience preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is preferred but not required.
• Experience in food service or restaurants is a plus but not required.
• Food Handler’s Permit (City of County) is requested.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion food according to recipes and portion sizes.
• Follow established kitchen processes and sanitation practices.
• Operate kitchen equipment, utensils and tools safely.
• Monitor students during meal periods and encourage healthy choices.
• Assist with cleaning duties and restocking for the next service period.
