Job summary

Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization (NSSEO) is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join a multidisciplinary school team. The role focuses on developing motor, sensory and functional progress for students ages 2 through 21, including assistive device recommendations and environmental adaptations.

The OT will communicate with teachers, administrators and families, create measurable goals, train staff, and participate in MTSS, PBIS and NVCI initiatives while maintaining compliant

Qualifications

• Current IDFPR license is required.
• NBCOT certification is required.
• Must be physically able to provide therapy to students ages 2–21.
• Ability to travel within NSSEO and districts.
• Pediatric and school-based OT experience preferred.
• Knowledge of school-based OT practice and related laws.

Responsibilities

• Provides motor, sensory and functional assessments to determine student eligibility.
• Develops measurable school-based goals and treatment plans.
• Collaborates with educational teams to implement strategies and accommodations.
• Provides instruction and models for staff on assistive devices and adaptations.
• Interprets reports to ensure appropriate intervention plans.
• Maintains confidential records per FERPA/HIPAA and policies.
• Supervises OT students, COTAs and aides as needed.
• Participates in MTSS, PBIS and NVCI meetings as required.
