Job summary

Mercy is seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our rehabilitation team in Springfield, Missouri. You will work closely with licensed Physical Therapists to help patients regain mobility, improve function, and achieve rehabilitation goals in a patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current PTA license in the state of practice or temporary permit where applicable
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
• Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply
• Ability to work with patients of all ages and backgrounds

Responsibilities

• Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist
• Perform therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer training, and mobility activities
• Administer modalities including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot and cold packs, and whirlpool treatments
• Assist with wound care procedures while adhering to sterile technique and safety protocols
• Monitor patient responses to treatment and communicate changes to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Document patient progress accurately and timely in department records
• Assess and respond to patient pain management needs during treatment sessions
• Provide age-appropriate care to patients across the lifespan
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals
• Provide guidance and technical assistance to Physical Therapy Aides as directed
• Identify and report patient safety concerns and support Mercy's commitment to quality care
