Job summary

Mercy Springfield, MO is seeking a compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join the rehabilitation team. You will work with licensed Physical Therapists to help patients regain mobility, improve function, and achieve rehabilitation goals in a patient-centered environment.

You will provide high-quality treatments, monitor progress, document outcomes, and ensure safety and dignity for every patient served, while collaborating closely with patients, families, physicians, and other

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Licensure: Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in the state of practice, or state-authorized temporary permit/license where applicable
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

Responsibilities

• Implement PT treatment plans under supervision of the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Perform therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer training, and mobility activities.
• Administer modalities including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot and cold packs, and whirlpool treatments.
• Assist with wound care procedures while adhering to sterile technique and safety protocols.
• Monitor patient responses to treatment and communicate changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Document patient progress accurately and timely in department records.
• Assess and respond to patient pain management needs during treatment sessions.
• Provide age-appropriate care to patients across the lifespan, from newborns to geriatric populations.
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Provide guidance and technical assistance to Physical Therapy Aides as directed.
• Identify and report patient safety concerns and support Mercy's commitment to quality care.
