Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for behavioral health. This full-time position provides direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision, ensuring a safe, clean environment and participation in CQI activities.

The ideal candidate will have a CNA certification, BLS/CPR, CPI training within 30 days, and strong communication skills. Hospital experience is preferred; English fluency is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPI training within 30 days of hire date.
• Current CNA certification preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Prefer hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Promotes facility mission, vision and values in daily practice.
• Conducts a full client inventory in the Intake area.
• Give report to nurse and tech when picking up a client in Intake area.
• Do not leave the client unattended at any time.
• Identify contraband and dispose of it appropriately.
• Coordinate with nurse/family if home medications are involved.
• Orient patient and family to processes and units.
• Assist on units between admissions as needed.
• Orient patients to unit and record vital signs.
• Perform and record patient vital signs and intake/output.
• Provide general nursing care including transfers and ADLs.
• Observe patients and notify RN of any changes.
• Identify behaviors requiring intervention and de-escalation.
