Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• CPI training must be completed within 30 days of hire.
• Current CNA certification preferred.
• Current BLS/CPR certification is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to communicate clearly with nursing, administration, and physicians.
• Hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them.
• Conducts a full client inventory in the Intake area.
• Gives report to the nurse and tech picking up client in the Intake area.
• Does not leave the client unattended at any time.
• Identify any contraband and dispose of it appropriately.
• Identify if client has brought home medications; coordinate with nurse/family.
• Orient patient and family to BHR processes and units.
• Assist on units in between admissions coordinating with Intake.
• Orient patients to the unit, record admission vital signs.
• Record vital signs and nursing assessments; notify RN of changes.
• Provide general nursing care and assist with ADLs.
• Observe patient behavior and de-escalate when needed.
• Assist with restraints or seclusion when necessary.
