Job description

Trevet is seeking a full-time Project Engineer with 8 to 12 years of environmental engineering experience to perform CERCLA/RCRA/UST studies and other support services at DoD installations within Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Northwest including Washington and Alaska. Candidates should possess, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering and be registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington. However, an advanced degree is preferred. The applicant must be eligible to work in the United States and on Department of Defense installations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science and engineering services related to CERCLA, RCRA, and state-led corrective actions, including geology/hydrogeology, contaminant chemistry, fate and transport, environmental risk assessment, and remediation technologies. Periodic travel to support field projects for extended durations of up to 1 to 2 weeks is required. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a strong commitment to safe work practices.

Project work is expected to include supporting the preparation of large technical documents under CERCLA including preliminary assessments, site inspections, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, proposed plans and records of decision, and related planning documents. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for taking technical charge and preparing remedial action documents such as remedial action work plans, design documents, and completion reports. In support of this work, engineering evaluations and cost analyses and evaluation, selection, design, and implementation of Environmental Restoration Program response actions and long-term operations and maintenance activities will be required.

Experience should include:

• Collecting field data.
• Oversight of subcontractors in support remediation systems.
• Routine operation and maintenance (O&M) tasks at remediation systems.
• Analyzing and interpreting data.
• Presenting data in visual, graphical, and tabular formats.
• Writing technical reports in response to the project requirements listed above.
• General computer knowledge (Microsoft Office Suite Products, Email).
• AutoCAD/GIS and other environmental software experience is a plus.

The ideal candidate will:

• Possess excellent writing and oral communication skills.
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Understand remedial systems design, installation, operation, sampling, and optimization.
• Take technical charge for the design and preparation of remedial action design documents.
• Partner successfully with clients and regulatory agencies.
• Analyze, interpret, and present field data, and write technical reports.
• Manage subcontractors.
• Be detail oriented, highly motivated, and an organized team player with a strong focus on client service.
• Have the ability to work independently or with minimal direction in performing most tasks and assignments.
• Represent Trevet through periodic attendance at marketing, business development, and networking events.
• Hold a valid driver’s license as travel to temporary assignments and time in the field will be required.

Other requirements/preferences:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington
• Project management experience is strongly preferred.
• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher.

The ideal candidate will be located in the Seattle area. Work requirements include three or more days per week in the Seattle office with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week. Hybrid or remote work, preferably from the Pacific Northwest, may be available at Trevet’s discretion.

Annual salary range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000, plus benefits.
