Job summary

Newtown Friends School is seeking a caring Associate Teacher to join our primary program as a full-time teammate to the Lead Teacher. You will help create a warm, nurturing classroom environment that supports social, emotional, and academic growth for our youngest learners.

You will collaborate with our teaching team to facilitate daily routines, assist with small-group activities, prepare materials, and support students during indoor and outdoor times.

Qualifications

• Experience with young children in a school or childcare setting.
• Strong understanding of child development.
• Experience supporting neurodiverse learners is a plus.
• Familiarity with Quaker education is a plus.

The Associate Teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher to facilitate daily classroom routines and support classroom management. Responsibilities include assisting with small-group activities, preparing classroom materials, and supporting students during indoor and outdoor play, snack, and rest times.

Candidates should have experience working with young children in a school or childcare setting and a strong understanding of child development. A warm, patient, and joyful approach to teaching is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team. Experience supporting neurodiverse learners is a plus.

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree is required. Candidates should be ready to help the school achieve its goal of being an anti-racist institution and advance its broader diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging goals. Familiarity with Quaker education is a plus.
