Friends’ Central School in Wynnewood, PA seeks a Lower School Assistant Teacher for a full-time, ten-month position beginning immediately. The ideal candidate collaborates with the Lead Teacher to plan curriculum, implement lessons, and support student learning in a hands-on, integrated setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher on planning curriculum and lessons
• Plan lessons and facilitate small group learning in partnership with Lead Teacher
• Assist the Lead Teacher with reviewing completed student work
• Supervise student transitions within and outside of the classroom
• Support the healthy social and emotional development of each child
• Develop positive working relationships with students and their families
• Provide careful supervision of students during snack, recess, and lunch
• Help the Lead Teacher set up, maintain, and clean up the classroom at the start and end of each year and each day
• Share responsibility for creating and updating classroom communication
• Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing for conferences and in writing report cards
• Attend faculty meetings and professional development days
• Actively participate on the school life committee to support the school’s commitment to continued learning and shared leadership
• Participate in extra duties either before or after school as needed; other duties as assigned
