Job summary

Arthur J. Glatfelter YMCA is seeking Full-Time Preschool Assistant Teachers to create a positive, engaging environment for children.

Schedule options include 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, or 8:30 AM–5:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with competitive YMCA benefits and a focus on youth development. Positions require meeting DHS qualifications for supervising children, maintaining records, and delivering curriculum with safety and family involvement.

Qualifications

• Must meet DHS qualifications for Assistant Group Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Implements curriculum within guidelines and prepares lessons in advance
• Supervises children, classroom and activities including ADA accommodations
• Guides developmentally appropriate play and routines
• Performs observations and creates activities to meet needs of children
• Provides positive feedback to redirect challenging behavior
• Communicates with parents and engages them as volunteers
• Maintains program site and equipment
• Ensures safe environment and follows emergency procedures
• Keeps required program records and trainings current
• Attends family nights, program activities and staff trainings
• Communicates feedback to supervisor for program improvement
• Reports suspected abuse as per policy
• Performs other duties as assigned
