Job summary

The Griffith Family YMCA is hiring a Part Time Teacher Assistant I to support the Preschool Program. You’ll assist the Teacher Lead, help plan activities, and care for children in the classroom, promoting YMCA values.

Requirements include a High School Diploma, at least 1 year in childcare preferred, and ongoing training such as CPR/First Aid within 30 days. Pay starts at $12.50 per hour and increases with experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in childcare preferred.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
• Keeping your YMCA Safe training completed within designated time.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supports curriculum implementation within guidelines as outlined by the Teacher Lead.
• Nurtures children and builds belonging through purposeful programming.
• Supervises the classroom and activities, following behavior management procedures.
• Supports ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
• Maintains open communication with parents and engages volunteers.
• Maintains program site and equipment in good condition.
• Keeps attendance and disciplinary records up to date.
• Attends family nights, events, and staff meetings as required.
• Assists Teacher Lead to enable remote classes and accessible materials.
• Collaborates with other staff to ensure teamwork.
• Assists with securing gifts for the annual campaign.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
