Job summary

The YMCA of the USA is seeking an Assistant Teacher for the YMCA Early Learning Center. You will assist in education, supervision and care of children, plan curriculum, and engage families throughout the program year.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, 2,500 hours with children, CPR/First Aid within 60 days, and background clearances as required. The role emphasizes safety, developmentally appropriate activities and strong communication with parents.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18.
• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience with children, OR
• HS diploma plus 15 credits in early childhood education and 1 year with children.
• CPR/First Aid certification required within 60 days of employment by PQAS certified trainer.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing the curriculum within established guidelines.
• Assist with daily lesson and activity plans.
• Maintain open communication with parents throughout the year.
• Supervise children, classroom and activities.
• Conduct ongoing observations and evaluations of children.
• Maintain required program records.
• Adhere to program standards for equipment, storage, safety and cleanliness.
• Attend center-wide activities, staff meetings and trainings.
• Foster positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
• Maintain ongoing DHS qualifications for working in Child Care.
• Follow YMCA policies including medical and disciplinary procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
