Qualifications
- Graduation from a CAPTE-accredited two-year associate degree program in Physical Therapy Assisting.
- Agreement to abide by the APTA Practice Standards/Code of Conduct.
- Passing score on the national licensure examination.
- Physical Therapy Assistant License (Required).
- Competency in therapy treatment principles, techniques, materials, and equipment utilization.
- Knowledge of state and federal accreditation standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to travel as necessary.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Verifying client information by interviewing clients, reviewing medical histories, and confirming treatment purposes.
- Helping clients improve their quality of life by assisting with motor skills, independence, and mobility, especially for injured workers and individuals with learning disabilities.
- Implementing treatment plans through direct treatment and collaboration with Physical Therapists, including educating other team members.
- Participating in continuing education to maintain professional growth.
- Maintaining confidentiality of all medical and facility information.
- Accurately documenting billing information daily.
- Leading interdisciplinary meetings when appropriate to relay clinical findings and recommendations.
- Ensuring documentation compliance under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
- Providing staff and family training and education through in-services and consultations.
- Managing supplies by inventorying, ordering, and verifying receipt.
