Job summary

SpecialtyRx, Inc. is seeking a dependable Pharmacy Purchasing & Receiving Technician for its Long-Term Care pharmacy operations in Roanoke, VA. You will coordinate medication and supply purchasing, manage inventory, and ensure timely receipt of products from vendors.

The role supports daily pharmacy operations, maintains regulatory compliance, and contributes to accurate inventory records. Training is provided; occasional lifting and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Pharmacy Technician certification preferred or required by state regulations.
• Experience with pharmacy inventory, purchasing, or receiving preferred.
• Familiarity with NDCs and purchasing documentation preferred.
• Experience with FrameworkLTC and/or SureCost preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage purchasing of medications and supplies to ensure availability.
• Monitor inventory levels and place orders to maintain stock levels and prevent shortages.
• Verify product availability, pricing, expiration dates, and quantities before ordering.
• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments from vendors.
• Match purchase orders with invoices and packing slips, including NDCs.
• Enter received orders into the pharmacy inventory system accurately.
• Inspect shipments for damage and proper storage, including refrigerated medications.
• Ensure proper labeling, organization, and storage per standards.
• Monitor short-dated and expired products and assist with stock rotation.
• Handle controlled substances per DEA regulations and company policies.
• Communicate discrepancies, shortages, and damages to the appropriate department.
• Prepare purchasing reports and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, distributors, and other departments.
• Support department training and assist team members as needed.
• Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean receiving and inventory area; assist with cycle counts.
