Job summary

The Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 in Hempfield Rohrerstown is seeking a Full-Time Personal Care Assistant (Autistic Support) to support students under a 1:1 paraeducator arrangement. The role includes instructional, behavioral and personal care assistance as defined by the student’s IEP and directed by the classroom teacher.

Responsibilities include implementing support plans, following program supervision, and ensuring a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraeducators with PDE, or willingness to complete within 6 months of employment.
• Copy of credential must be submitted within 30 days of hire or when received from PDE.
• Two years of postsecondary study with 48 credit hours, transcript within 30 days of employment.
• Associate degree or higher, transcript within 30 days of employment.
• Meeting rigorous standards demonstrated through an approved assessment within 6 months of employment.
• Evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities annually.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional, behavioral and personal care support per the student’s IEP.
• Assist 1:1 paraeducator duties for school-age students.
• Follow classroom teacher supervision and program supervisor guidance.

Schedule: 6.50 Hours/Day (9:00 am-3:30 pm) Monday-Friday 185 Days/Year

PURPOSEOFPOSITION:

ThePersonalCareAssistant/1:1Paraeducator(SchoolAge)isassignedtoprovideinstructional,behavioraland personal care support as outlined in the student's Individual Education Plan.The assistant will be directed by the classroom teacher and is under the general supervision of the designated program supervisor.

TheassignmentofthePersonalCareAssistant/1:1Paraeducatorisforaschoolyearandcouldterminateatany time, based on student placement or needs.

EffectiveJuly1,2010–Alsomustmeetoneofthefollowingfourqualifications:

The ability to physically restrain students in emotional stress by using the Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI),SafeCrisisManagement(SCM)orQualityBehaviorSupports(QBS)method,dependingonprogramneed, for which training will be provided.

Mustbeabletocontextuallyrun/sprintafter/toanelopingchildandbeabletohelpalearneroffthefloorshould they drop to the floor under their own power.
