Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 is seeking a Full-Time Personal Care Assistant: Autistic Support to provide instructional, behavioral and personal care support under the classroom teacher and program supervisor.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, relevant paraeducator credentials or willingness to complete, and 20 hours of staff development yearly. The position is 6.5 hours daily, Monday–Friday, in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraprofessionals or willingness to complete within 6 months.
• 2 years of postsecondary study with 48 credits, or an associate degree or higher.
• Evidence of a rigorous standard via an approved assessment within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional, behavioral and personal care support per IEP under teacher supervision.
• 1:1 paraeducator support for assigned student and school-year assignment that can end based on placement.

PURPOSEOFPOSITION:

ThePersonalCareAssistant/1:1Paraeducator(SchoolAge)isassignedtoprovideinstructional,behavioraland personal care support as outlined in the student's Individual Education Plan.The assistant will be directed by the classroom teacher and is under the general supervision of the designated program supervisor.

TheassignmentofthePersonalCareAssistant/1:1Paraeducatorisforaschoolyearandcouldterminateatany time, based on student placement or needs.

KNOWLEDGE&SKILLREQUIREMENTS:

EffectiveJuly1,2010–Alsomustmeetoneofthefollowingfourqualifications:

Have completed the Credential of Competency for Special Education ParaeducatorsthroughthePADepartmentofEducation(orbewillingto completewithin6monthsofemployment).Acopyofthecredentialmust be submitted within 30 days of hire or when received from PDE.

• Have completed at least 2 years of postsecondary study with a minimumof48credithours.Copyoftranscriptrequiredwithin30days of employment.
• Possessanassociatedegreeorhigher.Copyofdegreeortranscripts required within 30 days of employment.
• Meetarigorousstandardofqualityasdemonstratedthroughan approved form of assessment within 6 months of

employment.

AND

As required by the PA Department of Education: Each school year, provide evidenceof20hoursofstaffdevelopmentactivitiesrelatedtoposition.Pro-ration will apply based on the date of hire within the school year.

Mustbeabletocontextuallyrun/sprintafter/toanelopingchildandbeabletohelpalearneroffthefloorshould they drop to the floor under their own power.
