Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 seeks a Part-Time Personal Care Assistant/1:1 Paraeducator for a school-age student at DONEGAL INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL.

The role provides instructional, behavioral and personal care support as outlined in the IEP, with supervision by a classroom teacher and program supervisor. 3 hours per day, Monday–Friday, 185 days/year, $20.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• EducationRequired: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
• Must meet one of the four qualifications for paraeducators (PDE).
• Skills include verbal communication and following directions.

PURPOSEOFPOSITION:

ThePersonalCareAssistant/1:1Paraeducator(SchoolAge)isassignedtoprovideinstructional,behavioraland personal care support as outlined in the student's Individual Education Plan.The assistant will be directed by the classroom teacher and is under the general supervision of the designated program supervisor.

TheassignmentofthePersonalCareAssistant/1:1Paraeducatorisforaschoolyearandcouldterminateatany time, based on student placement or needs.

KNOWLEDGE&SKILLREQUIREMENTS:

EducationRequired: HighSchoolDiplomaorHighSchoolEquivalency

EffectiveJuly1,2010–Alsomustmeetoneofthefollowingfourqualifications:

• Have completed the Credential of Competency for Special Education ParaeducatorsthroughthePADepartmentofEducation(orbewillingto completewithin6monthsofemployment).Acopyofthecredentialmust be submitted within 30 days of hire or when received from PDE.
• Have completed at least 2 years of postsecondary study with a minimumof48credithours.Copyoftranscriptrequiredwithin30days of employment.
• Possessanassociatedegreeorhigher.Copyofdegreeortranscripts required within 30 days of employment.
• Meetarigorousstandardofqualityasdemonstratedthroughan approved form of assessment within 6 months of

employment.

AND

As required by the PA Department of Education: Each school year, provide evidenceof20hoursofstaffdevelopmentactivitiesrelatedtoposition.Pro-ration will apply based on the date of hire within the school year.

Mustbeabletocontextuallyrun/sprintafter/toanelopingchildandbeabletohelpalearneroffthefloorshould they drop to the floor under their own power.
