Job summary

UPMC Passavant - Cranberry Township is seeking a Full Time Patient Care Technician to support RN-directed care and enhance the patient experience. This role emphasizes safety, compassionate patient interaction, and collaboration with the healthcare team to deliver Life Changing Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, procedures, therapies, and patient monitoring
• Perform core PCT competencies: vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry, specimen collection, EKGs, bladder scans, dressings, catheter removal, and restraint application per protocol
• Assist with unit and patient needs (e.g., responding to call lights, meal delivery, patient transport, monitoring), including transport of cardiac monitored patients
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment while following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical functions as needed
• Support unit operations and quality initiatives, including participation in projects and department activities
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships, taking ownership of assignments, and supporting team performance and improvement efforts
• Provide patient and family education under RN direction and respond to emergent situations as appropriate
