UPMC is seeking a Full Time Patient Care Technician to support the Cranberry ED in Cranberry Township. The role provides life-changing care under RN guidance and emphasizes patient experience, safety, and teamwork.

Responsibilities include monitoring, procedures, education, and collaboration with physicians and nurses to ensure timely, effective care. Rotating shifts will require adaptability and strong communication within a fast-paced environment.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of healthcare experience.
• One year of healthcare experience with clinical rotation or a health sciences bachelor’s degree.
• Successful completion of UPMC Patient Care Technician Senior training.
• Completion of basic information systems training.
• Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia course with ongoing annual competency.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Annual professional contribution (assigned after hire).
• May transport medications between departments; transport only.

Responsabilidades

• Provide advanced patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, procedures, therapies, and patient monitoring.
• Perform core PCT competencies, including vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry, specimen collection, EKGs, bladder scans, dressings, catheter removal, and restraint application per protocol.
• Assist with unit and patient needs (e.g., responding to call lights, meal delivery, patient transport, and monitoring), including transport of cardiac monitored patients.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment while following infection control and safety protocols.
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly.
• Document care accurately and complete clerical functions as needed.
• Support unit operations and quality initiatives, including participation in projects and department activities.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care.
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships, taking ownership of assignments, and supporting team performance and improvement efforts.
• Provide patient and family education under RN direction and respond to emergent situations as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Educational/Knowledge Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One of the following:
  • Two years of healthcare experience
  • One year of healthcare experience and enrollment in a PT, OT, PA, or related healthcare program with at least one completed clinical rotation
  • One year of healthcare experience and a bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field
• Successful completion of UPMC Patient Care Technician Senior training
• Completion of basic information systems training
• Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia course with ongoing annual competency
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Completion of an annual professional contribution (assigned after hire)
• May transport medications between departments; limited to transport only

Licensure/Certification/Clearances

• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days of hire
• Act 34 Criminal Clearance
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
