Job summary

UF Health Shands Homecare is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support Registered Nurses by performing routine procedures under supervision. The role emphasizes patient advocacy and collaborative, autonomous nursing practice within a trusted team environment.

Qualified candidates include EMTs/Paramedics, CNAs, or nursing students enrolled in approved programs, with ongoing or recent nursing training. This is a full-time position in Gainesville, FL, offering essential patient care support

Qualifications

Licensed EMT or Paramedic; or CNA with HS diploma or equivalent with one year patient care experience preferred.
Nursing student enrolled in approved nursing program - upon successful completion of didactic and clinical portions.
Employees awaiting NCLEX authorization to test (up to 90 days post-graduation) or who failed NCLEX (up to 6 months).
CNAs who are current employees with CNA training and instructor recommendation.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant functions as an assistant to the Registered Nurse performing routine procedures under supervision.
Provides nursing support to achieve excellent patient care and nursing's vision of standards of care.
