Job summary

The University of Iowa Parking and Transportation is seeking CAMBUS Bus Operators to operate passenger buses on campus under general supervision. This on-campus role requires judgment to deliver safe and reliable public transit services.

Schedule: 8-hour shift, occasional overtime, unpaid lunch, Monday–Friday, 4:00AM-9:30PM, on campus at West Campus Transportation Center. Must have a valid US driver’s license and a Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement; driving policy background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid US driver’s license.
• Must pass and maintain driving privileges under University Driving Policy.
• CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement and Airbrakes restriction lifted required.
• Subject to drug and alcohol testing per FTA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operates passenger buses on campus.
• Assists riders to board and exit safely.
• Maintains on-time route schedules.
• Provides courteous customer service and relays system information.
• Uses onboard equipment per policy.
• Performs vehicle inspections for passenger safety.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Reports delays, breakdowns, and accidents to dispatch.
• Assists riders with disabilities in compliance with ADA.
