Job summary

City of Iowa City Transit Division / Transportation Services Department seeks an experienced bus operator to transport the general public safely on assigned routes. You will collect fares and ridership data for municipal reports, monitor passenger safety, and provide courteous service.

Work hours vary, Monday–Saturday; starting wage $25.11–$32.31 per hour with pay depending on experience. Requires high school diploma, Iowa CDL-B with passenger and air-brake endorsements after training, and

Qualifications

• High school education or G.E.D. and seven to twelve months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid State of Iowa Class B commercial driver’s license instruction permit.
• Valid State of Iowa Class B commercial driver’s license with passenger and air-brake endorsements required upon completion of training period.
• Meet federal drug testing requirements.
• A pre-employment drug screen.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Under direction, operates City buses to transport the general public safely to and from destinations on assigned route.
• Collects fares and ridership statistics for municipal and government reports.

Education

High school education or G.E.D.

7–12 months related experience or training

Iowa Class B CDL instruction permit

Iowa Class B CDL with passenger and air-brake endorsements

Meet federal drug testing requirements

A pre-employment drug screen

Must be 18 years of age
