Job summary

Center Point-Urbana Community School District is seeking a Bus Driver – Full Route in Center Point, IA. This part-time role supports student transportation and requires adherence to safety, scheduling, and district policies.

CDL, physicals, and a good driving history are essential, with strong communication to engage with students, parents, and staff. You will operate school routes, perform routine bus checks, and report incidents promptly while maintaining a positive public image and punctual

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Acceptable driving record.
• Self-motivated to accomplish duties without supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to establish positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Obeys all traffic laws.
• Complete CDL and physical requirements.
• Maintain current Iowa School Bus Operators permit.
• Comply with a random drug and alcohol testing program.
• Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintains student discipline.
• Reports undisciplined students to the Building Principal and/or Director of Transportation.
• Keeps assigned bus clean inside and out.
• Keeps to assigned schedule.
• Attends schedules meetings.
• Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defect and fuels own bus per directives necessary.
• Notifies the Director of Transportation in case of mechanical failure.
• Discharges students only at authorized stops.
• Exercises responsible leadership on all school trips.
• Transports only authorized students.
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
• Implements Rules and Regulation as defined in Board Policy.
• Requires that all route pickups comply with school Policy and Iowa Code.
• Reports any adverse weather or road conditions.
• Promotes good public relations in dealing with students and their parents/guardians including maintain an effective level of communication when necessary.

Under the general supervision of both the Director of Transportation, this position will perform the following
